The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) is planning to be involved in a wide range of activities to support the Committee of Emergency Situation and Civil Defense (CoESCD) under the Government of Tajikistan. 

The OSCE has a comprehensive approach to security that encompasses politico-military, economic and environmental, and human aspects. It therefore addresses a wide range of security-related concerns, including arms control, confidence- and security-building measures, human rights, national minorities, democratization, policing strategies, counter-terrorism and economic and environmental activities.

In 2008, the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan decided to launch a comprehensive police reform for the benefit of the people of Tajikistan. The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) was requested by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan (MIA) to facilitate the reforming process through provision of consultative assistance on the basis of its cross-dimensional approach to security.

The President of the Kyrgyz Republic signed a Decree on 12 November 2013 on eradication of causes of political and systemic corruption in government bodies.
