Young people play an important role on security issues and forming part of a holistic security response. The experience of the Presence is that Albanian youth are not fully aware and/or included in decision-making processes as they relate to security issues, and are susceptible to radicalization and violent extremism. Meetings with young women and men in Lushnja, Vlora and Puka during 2019 showed that they are mostly unaware of the existence of Local Safety Councils (LSCs) and that their involvement in decision making processes is encouraged and required.
