Within its mandate to protect and promote the rights of vulnerable communities, the Mission monitors and reports on the situation of Kosovo Roma, Kosovo Ashkali and Kosovo Egyptian communities. In 2017, the Mission will issue a Publication depicting the current situation of the three communities, and assessing the level of their inclusion in Kosovo society. |
Background: According to various international reports, corruption remains a very important challenge for Albania. In the 2016 Corruption Perception Index of Transparency International, Albania ranks 83rd, out of 176 countries. Additionally, according to a 2016 survey by the Institute for Development and Research Alternatives (IDRA) on Corruption Perceptions, Albanian citizens perceive corruption to be widespread across different government institutions. The report claims the average corruption score is 61 points on a scale from 0-100 where 0=“very honest” and 100=“very corrupt”.
