Background    
     
   

This vacancy is open only for persons with the citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia.

The OSCE Mission to Serbia’s Security Co-operation Department is looking for a Project Assistant to provide support in development and implementation of security co-operation projects.

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Under the supervision of the Senior Organised Crime Adviser, the temporary Project Assistant will be responsible for:

  1. Providing assistance in the development and implementation of project activities related to security co-operation in one of the priority areas, more specifically the incumbent will be:
    • Conducting background research on different aspects of security co-operation, in particular organised crime;
    • Presenting data using comparative analysis and complex formats;
    • Preparing written documents on the basis of the research conducted, including project proposals, training materials and presentations;
    • Maintaining record of programme activities and projects with indicators of performance;
  2. Providing professional interpretation and translation services:
    • Translating and proof-reading complex written documents, such as policy papers, needs assessment reports and legal documents;
    • Drafting and maintaining official correspondence in both English and Serbian, and compiling summaries of meetings and project activities;
    • Providing professional interpretation from English into Serbian and vice versa at official meetings and conferences;
  3. Providing administrative and clerical assistance to the Security Co-operation Department's programme managers and advisers:
    • Maintaining efficient communication with government officials, donors, international and non-governmental organisations;
    • Keeping minutes from meetings, maintaining the filing system including the department's library, and updating/maintaining electronic documents management system;
    • Assisting in the logistics for events (booking air tickets, rooms, premises, payment of travel costs etc.); submitting purchase requests;
  4. Performing other duties as required.
     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia;
  • Secondary education, supplemented by formal studies or training in languages, administration or project management;
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in administration of projects or project planning, implementation, reporting and evaluation;
  • Experience in analytical, problem-solving and/or organisational activities;
  • Ability to conduct research and collect information from a variety of sources;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Serbian;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity.

Remuneration Package    
     
   

The selected candidate will receive a short-term Letter of Appointment which will end on 15 March 2019.

Appointments are made at Step 1 of the applicable salary scale. Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is EUR 1,504.92. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance.
