The vacancy is open only for persons with the citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia. Persons who are older than 30 years on the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice or who have already served six months of internship in the OSCE, irrespective of the duty station, are not eligible to apply.
The OSCE Mission to Serbia seeks a local intern to provide an opportunity to learn about the OSCE’s operations and assist the planning and implementation of the Mission’s activities in Novi Pazar and southwest Serbia. In this area, the OSCE maintains relationships with local interlocutors in the six municipalities of Novi Pazar, Novi Varos, Priboj, Prijepolje, Sjenica and Tutin, through regular meetings and attending local activities. Additionally, the Mission supports implementation of projects in the areas of democratization, rule of law, media and security co-operation.
The successful candidate will undertake an internship up to six months in duration, subject to the requirements of service and satisfactory performance.

Tasks and Responsibilities |
|

|
|
|
The selected intern will be located in Novi Pazar and will perform the following duties under the supervision of the Project Manager:
- Preparing draft reports based on office priorities;
- Supporting the co-ordination and preparation of local events and activities;
- Attending/monitoring activities of relevance to the office;
- Engaging with local interlocutors to support office activities;
- Conducting research on topics identified in line with the Mission’s priorities;
- Providing backstopping support to two Project Assistants, particularly focused on extra-budgetary projects, including the Legal Learning Project and Learning Local Government Project for southwest Serbia;
- Performing other duties as required, potentially including travel within the area of responsibility.
Due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the selected intern may be required to work from home for the whole or part of the internship. Applicants are therefore encouraged to ensure that they have good internet connectivity and personal computer at home.

Necessary Qualifications |
|

|
- Citizenship of the Republic of Serbia;
- Applicants should be under the age of 30 on the date of the deadline of this vacancy;
- Completed a first or advanced degree in one of the following fields: political science, security studies, international relations, economics, sociology, psychology or other social sciences;
- Strong analytical, research and drafting skills;
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate initiative;
- Professional fluency in English and Serbian;
- Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages;
- Ability and willingness to work with people of different nationalities, cultural and religious backgrounds and diverse political views while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package |

|
The incumbent will undertake an internship in the duration of three months, with the possibility of extension for another and final three months. The envisaged commencement date will be in January 2021.
The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover expenses incurred by the intern. However, some compensation towards the cost of living may be offered to an intern who does not have registered permanent residence in Novi Pazar, which will be the place of assignment. In addition, the OSCE will cover the costs of any official travel undertaken during the internship.
Interns must provide evidence of health insurance coverage which is valid for Serbia, otherwise they shall be obliged to join the OSCE group health insurance for the period of their internship, in which case they shall pay the corresponding premium in full (EUR 34.12/month). The OSCE shall bear the premium costs of group life and accident/disability insurance.
