Background | ||
This call for applications is open for persons with the citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of Serbia. The UN Security Council Resolution (SCR) 1325 on women, peace and security is the first formal and legal document of the UN Security Council that required parties in a conflict to prevent violations of women’s rights, to support women’s participation in peace negotiations and in post-conflict reconstruction, and to protect women and girls from sexual and gender-based violence in armed conflict. It is also the first United Nations Security Council resolution to specifically mention the unique impact of conflict on women. In 2017, the Government of the Republic of Serbia adopted the new National Action Plan (NAP) for the implementation of the UNSCR 1325 – Women, Peace and Security. The document covers the period from 2017 to 2020. Compared to the previous NAP, the NAP 2017-2020 has an additional focus on involvement of women at the local level. The general objective of this document is to improve the safety and security of women through the implementation of UN SCR 1325 in the area of prevention, participation, relief and recovery, with increased involvement of women at the local level.
