Background    
     
   

OSCE missions and field activities are the front line of OSCE work in countries that require assistance and are the agent through which political decisions are translated into action. Each mission has a different mandate but generally work addresses early warning, preventive diplomacy, conflict management and post-conflict rehabilitation.

OSCE Mission to Moldova is looking to enrich its roster of Translators and Interpreters from German to Romanian languages and vice versa.

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Under the supervision of the Mission's staff, the identified language specialists will be responsible to:

  • Providing consecutive and/or simultaneous  from German to Romanian and/or from Romanian to German interpretation during bilateral meetings and Mission's project activities, such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and roundtables;
  • Providing written translation services of project and training related documents and other required materials from German to Romanian and from Romanian to German.

Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • University degree in Translation/Interpretation, Humanities or related field
  • Five or more years of relevant professional experience in Translation/Interpretation
  • Professional knowledge of German and Romanian languages
  • Knowledge of Russian will be an asset
  • Basic computer skills
  • Ability and willingness to work as a team member with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds and diverse political views
  • Strong ability to work under deadline pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Ability to cope with physical hardship and willingness to work extra hours and in an environment with limited infrastructure.

Remuneration Package    
     
   

Remuneration will be commensurate to educational background and years of relevant experience of the selected candidates, in line with the OSCE Staff Regulations and Staff Rules.
