Background    
     
   

The Department of Management and Finance is responsible for managing the material and financial resources of the Organization. It provides policy guidance on the management of OSCE financial and material resources and develops and maintains OSCE Financial Regulations and Rules and Financial/Administrative Instructions. Information and Communications Technology Services (ICTS) ensures efficient, available, and cost-effective management, operation and utilisation of Information Technology (IT) in support of the core business of the OSCE. This comprises activities associated with co-ordination, operation, management, development and implementation of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) supported projects and infrastructure.

 

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

ICTS is looking for an internship candidate who will work with both the Software Development Unit (SDU) and the Services and Support Unit (SnS). For SDU, the intern will work on the technical operation, development, and support of the OSCE’s SharePoint services and other custom applications. For SnS, the intern will work as part of the Secretariat ICT Service Desk, handling support tickets and providing direct support to users. Under the overall supervision of the Chief, Software Development Unit and the Chief, ICT Service and Support Section, the successful candidate will be tasked with the following duties:

 

  1. Assisting in the creation, customization and editing of SharePoint sites and site content, including supporting the rollout of document management and collaboration sites across the OSCE;
  2. Assisting with testing, bug tracking, task management, reporting, and troubleshooting on SharePoint and custom application development projects;
  3. Assisting in monitoring the queue of support tickets assigned to SDU, handling simple tickets themselves and assigning more complex tasks to developers;
  4. Assisting in preparing user equipment (desktops and laptops) for user distribution;
  5. Assisting in ensuring/testing that user devices are ready for use and that latest versions and updates are in place;
  6. Physically moving and carrying user equipment, such as laptops, monitors and desktops;
  7. Assisting with and troubleshooting printer issues, WeBex conference calls, and token assignments according to established procedures;
  8. Supporting ICTS in ticket assignment and follow-up through the ICT ticketing system;
  9. Performing other relevant tasks as required.

Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Applicants should be under the age of 30 (on the deadline of this vacancy) and from an OSCE participating State;
  • Students in the final year of higher education (university or other accredited institution) at graduate or postgraduate level, i.e. within two years of graduation by the deadline of the vacancy, or recent graduates or postgraduates, with a background in a related subject;
  • Previous experience with Microsoft SharePoint, as a developer, administrator, content manager or standard user is highly desirable;
  • Familiarity with IT support and software development is considered as an asset;
  • Advanced computer skills and advanced knowledge of MS Office;
  • Strong analytical, customer-oriented and troubleshooting skills;
  • Attention to detail, politeness and ability to perform under pressure;
  • Demonstrated open-mindedness, flexibility and high motivation;
  • Professional fluency in English with excellent communication (both oral and written) skills;
  • Working knowledge of other OSCE working language(s) would be an asset;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Ability and willingness to work as a member of team, with people of different cultural, and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity.
