Background    
     
   

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced Ukrainian professionals for the position of Senior Social Media Assistant with its main Office in Kyiv. The OSCE is committed to achieving a better balance of women and men within the Organization.

 

NOTE: Initial duration of appointment/assignment for this post is until 31 March 2018, subject to a subsequent OSCE Permanent Council Decision to extend the mandate of the Mission. Confirmation of post grade is pending completion of classification review.

Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Under the supervision of the Head of the Press & Public Information Unit, the Senior Social Media Assistant provides expert advice on social media to the Press & Public Information Unit (PPIU) and develops, implements and maintains social media communication initiatives; acts as a focal point for the social media presence of the Mission and is the main interface between the Mission and social media audiences; provides advice and suggestions on advantageous social media activities and executes the Mission’s social media activities; regulates and oversees all Mission social media accounts; and supports mission leadership in social media activities. More specifically, the incumbent:

  1. Maintains content and structure of the Mission’s pages on the OSCE public website according to communication and editorial policies; drafts and edits content (texts, photos, web stories, documents and multimedia) for online publication; ensures update of mission pages and online content in local languages when translations are available and provides translations for content as necessary; performs administrative functions on social media tools and accounts;
  2. Looks for new and innovative ways to promote the Mission via online media, including through proposing new online presences; develops and manages editorial and multimedia projects (infographics, feature articles, photo stories, web campaigns) for publication on the Mission’s online presences;
  3. Monitor and analyses the Mission’s online presence and proposes changes in content publication following indications and trends; monitors the use of the Mission’s pages, responds to user queries and channels other queries to relevant colleagues; provides advice and support to Mission members for online personal security; researches and shares best practices;
  4. Performs other tasks as assigned.

 

 

 
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Citizenship of Ukraine;
  • Completed secondary education supplemented by specialized studies in Communication or Journalism/Media;
  • Minimum 6 year’s relevant work experience, including website development or online campaigns;
  • Professional fluency in English, Russian and Ukrainian languages, excellent written and oral communication skills in the mentioned languages;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft Office applications;
  • Excellent knowledge of modern web content development and standards;
  • Excellent knowledge of, and experience in, using various social media platforms for professional/brand communications; familiarity with multimedia publishing tools and technologies;
  • Sound political judgement and the ability to communicate professionally and diplomatically with high level officials;
  • Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and in limited time frames;
  • Expected to work long hours when accompanying senior management on field visits and during periods of crisis communication;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Cultural sensitivity and judgment.
     
Remuneration Package    
     
    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 1176.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and social security / Provident Fund. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.
