Background:
Under the direct supervision of the National ICT Officer manages tasks that are associated with the daily operation of Mission's LAN/WAN data and voice networks, Mission servers and e-mail system and performs tasks defined by documented administration procedures in Network, Directory, Print/Output and Storage Administration. Provides continual development of Mission's LAN/WAN data and voice networks and e-mail system and performs troubleshooting issues.
Task and Responsibilities:
Network Administration:
- Participating in network planning, designing, developing, deploying, and modifying;
- Preparing, configuring and installing network resources for test environment;
- Preparing, installing, configuring, and providing technical support, and maintaining data and voice network components such as Cisco Call Manager Servers; Cisco IP Phones, Cisco Voice Getaways, Cisco Call Manager Servers, Cisco Unified Call Manager Applications, Cisco ATA Devices;
- Testing and implementing network upgrades and changes in coordination with other release team members;
- Participating in production and user acceptance testing;
- Documenting all changes to the system network;
Administration of Mission's e-mail application:
- Monitoring and administrating Mission's e-mail application to optimize availability and conformance to agreed service levels;
- Repairing application as needed;
Information Systems Monitoring:
- Monitoring and controlling production systems such as Local Intranet, Database system, File Server, and DFS system;
- Monitoring and controlling service levels of network suppliers;
- Enabling automated monitoring of system components;
- Following data security procedures;
- Detecting management events and raising alerts;
- Executing documented operational procedures for event escalations;
- Reacting and attempting to solve incidents or ensuring that they are transferred for resolution;
Technical Support:
- Handling first and second level service requests (eSupport tickets) related to LAN/WAN and e-mail system;
- Monitoring incident details; including the configuration items affected;
- Investigating and diagnosing incidents related to LAN/WAN and e-mail system (including resolution where possible);
- Querying and updating existing knowledge base;
- Detecting possible problems and notifying Problem Management;
Directory Administration:
- Creating, maintaining and deleting new directory objects;
- Monitoring Mission's directories for capacity, availability and performance;
Storage Administration:
- Monitoring disk and other storage media for availability and capacity;
- Executing routine tasks to ensure smooth running of storage servers and peripherals;
- Executing documented administration procedures for service quality assurance, and appropriate storage management security procedures;
- Isolating and resolving faults associated with storage resources;
- Participating in production and pilot testing of storage resources;
- Executing end-user backup and restoration;
- Assisting in execution of appropriate disaster recovery procedures when team work is required by performing routine tasks;
Print and Output Administration:
- Installing, configuring and monitoring components of printers such as queues and spooler service and performing necessary actions when required;
- Performing other related work as assigned.
Necessary Qualifications:
- Secondary education and technical training in computer, system analysis or related sciences;
- six (6) years of experience in the area of information technology and network administration with increasing level of responsibility;
- Work experience in with current industry networking technologies in large institutions or companies, preferably international, is an asset;
- Experience in providing technical training;
- Knowledge and experience of Cisco networking devices, TCP/IP networking, HP server hardware/peripherals, storage and network devices, Microsoft Exchange Server and client, Microsoft Windows server and client operating systems, Microsoft Active Directory, VMware virtualization platform, and Cisco VoIP;
- Experience in Network cabling;
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in local language;
- Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
- Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.
Remuneration Package:
Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 2,574.25 BAM/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions.
