Background    
     
   

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced Ukrainian professionals for the position of Senior Driver with its main Office in Kyiv. The OSCE is committed to achieving a better balance of women and men within the Organization.

 

Initial duration of appointment is for 12 months, subject to a subsequent OSCE Permanent Council Decision to extend the mandate of the Mission.

Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Incumbent is assigned to the General Services Office but performs duties also for sub-offices on a regular basis.Under the overall supervision of the National Transport Officer, the Senior Driver performs the following functions:

 

  1. Drives OSCE vehicles to transport the Chief Monitor and participate to the protection and safety of the Chief Monitor; Drives for the Chief Monitor and other high ranking OSCE/SMM officials;
  2. Drives other high ranking officials and visiting experts, delegations and Office staff when not driving for the CM;
  3. Performs driving and transportation services (personnel, documents and cargo) in support of the SMM;
  4. Assists the National Transport Officer and Transport Assistant Dispatcher with planning of transportation tasks and dispatch of SMM vehicles;
  5. Conducts regular vehicle checks and informs the Transport Assistant and National Transport Officer of any needed maintenance;
  6. Maintains day to day cleanliness and good working condition (fuel, car fluids, oil, tires, springs) of vehicles;
  7. Maintains log of vehicle usage and ensures that the steps required by the rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in an accident;
  8. Performs other duties as required by the National Transport Officer.
     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Ukrainian citizenship or holding permanent resident status in Ukraine;
  • Completed secondary education;
  • Valid driving license, minimum BCE category;
  • Minimum of four years of driving experience with established awareness of safety & security issues;
  • Skills in minor vehicle repair;
  • Computer literate with practical experience with Microsoft applications;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English, Russian and Ukrainian languages;
  • Ability to cope with physical hardship and willingness to work extra hours and in an environment with limited infrastructure; proven resilience to high stress environments;
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;
  • Cultural sensitivity and judgment.

Remuneration Package    
     
    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 709.83 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme and social security / Provident Fund. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.
