The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) is updating its Roster of Translators and Interpreters. For candidates to be placed on the Mission’s Roster of freelance language specialists one must have proven professional experience in Translation and/or Interpretation from English into Russian and vice versa and/or from English into Kyrgyz and vice versa, preferably with international organizations, governmental institutions, or diplomatic services.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the POiB's staff, the identified language specialists will be responsible to:
Provide consecutive and/or simultaneous English-Russian, Russian-English and/or English-Kyrgyz, Kyrgyz-English interpretation during bilateral meetings and Mission's project activities, such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and roundtables;
Provide written translation services of project related documents and other required materials from English-Russian, Russian-English and/or English-Kyrgyz, Kyrgyz-English.
First-level university degree in Translation/Interpretation or related field with a focus on English and Russian;
Minimum of 6 years of professional experience providing translation and/or interpretation services within international organizations, governmental institutions, or diplomatic services;
Required language combination: professional fluency in English, Russian and/or Kyrgyz;
Knowledge of an additional working language of the OSCE would be an asset;
Basic computer skills;
Strong ability to work under deadline pressure and meet strict deadlines;
United Nations and/or EU accreditation as a freelance interpreter would be an asset.

The consultant will be remunerated commensurate with consultant’s experience and qualifications in accordance with the OSCE established rates.
