Background    
     
   

OSCE Missions and Field Activities are the front line of OSCE work in countries that require assistance and are the agent through which political decisions are translated into action. The OSCE Mission to Skopje is the Organization's longest-serving field mission. Based on the mandated priorities for the Mission, the Mission’s current activities are grouped in four main strategic areas:  Inter-ethnic relations, including early warning; Rule of Law, Democratic Governance; and Transnational Threats.

The Mission requires temporary assistance in the post of Programme/Project Assistant on occasional and ad-hoc basis, to cover for peak periods and replacement of regular staff, with the need for deployment as early as operational needs require.

For that purpose, the Mission is updating its roster of potential candidates for providing temporary assistance within the scope of its programmatic activities in the fields of:

  • Police Development
  • Rule of Law
  • Democratic Governance
  • Social Cohesion
  • Administration, etc.

Applicants’ successful placement on the Temporary Assistance Roster is subject to their meeting the minimum qualification and skill level for the position, and does not express or imply any guarantee of employment with the OSCE Mission to Skopje.

Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Under the direct supervision of the National Programme Officer and/or the Chief of Unit, the incumbent:

  1. Provides active support in the implementation of the Department/Unit’s project activities through participation in meetings, discussions and organization of activities, communicates with national counterparts/implementing partners, maintains and keeps accurate track of all project documentation;
  2. Provides administrative and logistic assistance related to the organization of trainings, workshops, conferences, round tables or other events for the purposes of project implementation;
  3. Researches, collects and maintains background information regarding specific field of related projects and of interest to the programme activities, including that of national legislation, implementing partners, etc.;
  4. Monitors media (printed and electronic) and reports regularly on relevant issues;
  5. Compiles and proofreads documents, provides translation and/or consecutive interpretation from local languages to English and vice versa, drafts minutes and concept notes;
  6. Contributes to the day-to-day project/programme implementation in accordance with work plans;
  7. Provides support with all incoming and outgoing correspondence;
  8. Performs any other duties as assigned, depending on the specifics of the position
     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Citizenship of or permanent residence in the Republic of North Macedonia;
  • Completed secondary education supplemented by studies or training in related fields
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in related activities at national or international level
  • Computer literate with practical experience with Windows packages
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English and in local languages
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package    
     
    Remuneration will depend on the specific post level and be in accordance with OSCE Mission to Skopje local staff salary scale.
