Job Title: Programme Assistant

Organization Name: OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan

 

Background: The OSCE Programme Office in Nur-Sultan is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Program Assistant (G5, step 1) in its Political-Military Dimension.

 Tasks and Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Politico-Military Officer (SPMO), as Programme Assistant, you will perform the following duties:

 

  1. Cooperating and maintaining working relations with the relevant central and local authorities of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues related to raising awareness as well as the training or designated host country officials on the OSCE.
  2. Contributing to the POiN's knowledge of political, economic and social developments in the country through research and by collecting, organizing and analysing information from a wide variety of sources, monitor and analyse daily press reports and serve as a press officer.
  3. Assisting in updating the POiN's Information Brochure and factsheet by revising and editing the document: collecting, processing and disseminating OSCE periodical and informational materials: maintaining and updating the POiN's website by developing, editing and translating content.
  4. Participating in discussions and meetings on project activities and planning.
  5. Initiating dialogue, collaborating, and ensuring follow-up with host country counterparts (state officials and civil society representatives) on project development and implementation.
  6. Preparing PMD project documentation (project proposals, agreements, memorandums, contracts) for review and signature.
  7. Assisting in the implementation of approved project proposals by providing logistical and programmatic support.
  8. Contributing to the PM's reporting (ad hoc reports, general and periodic reports), briefings and talking points. Assisting in preparing background information on developments related to the PMD's areas of activity.
  9. Assisting with drafting and translating press releases related to the PMD activities; editing press releases drafted by other dimensions.
  10. Maintaining working contacts within OSCE institutions, as well as with relevant international organisation and diplomatic missions to ensure good programmatic coordination. Assisting with the logistical preparations for OSCE delegations visits to the country.
  11. Attending seminars/roundtables related to the PMD's field of expertise organized within the OSCE by partner organizations and NGOs. Preparing summary reports on the events to keep the office informed.
  12. Acting as a focal point for the Docln system and entering all required data and documentation.
  13. Performing other duties as assigned.  

Necessary Qualification:

 

Education: Secondary education supplemented by formal studies in a relevant field

 

Experience: At least 4 years relevant work experience in project/programme management or administration, with practical experience in translation/interpretation

Computer literate with practical experience with Microsoft applications.

 

Languages: Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English, Kazakh and Russian languages.

Other: Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds.

 

Remuneration Package:  Monthly remuneration is EUR 1,211. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.

Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.
