The services provided by Project Personnel shall be related to project activities of the Politico-Military Dimension (PMD) of the Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (PCUz).The incumbent will be assigned to provide secretarial, administrative and programmatic assistance to the dimension in the implementation of the PCUz Extra Budgetary project entitled Assistance to the Republic of Uzbekistan in the Implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1540 (hereinafter EXB Project). The unit will consist of two staff: the incumbent, and the Senior Project Assistant. |

Tasks and Responsibilities |

|
|
Under the guidance of PMD National Project Officer and the direct supervision of Senior Project Officer, and team leadership of the Senior Project Assistant, the incumbent performs the following duties: Project Management Functions and Reporting a) Advises project partners, streamlines plans and assists the supervisors in planning, implementation and reporting; • The incumbent works with project partners on work plans, budgets and timelines, translating documents not submitted in English. b) On behalf of the PMD, the incumbent should be able to attend local seminars, meetings and conferences issues and report on conclusions reached and recommendations made, if requested by the supervisors. Administrative/Secretarial functions c) Assists in organizing official visits and conferences; compiles background material and drafts papers for seminars and conferences; drafts as required correspondence, reports, evaluations, analyses and justifications, which may be of a confidential nature within the assigned area of responsibility; d) Proactively co-ordinates with relevant PCUz units (in particular with FAU) and renders administrative support, such as raising PRs, ensures the availability of office supplies; arranges for the procurement of office and project material needed. e) Facilitates procurement for the EXB Project, prepare, distributes, solicits and reviews Request for Quotations, Requests for Proposals, conduct price comparison analysis; f) Makes appointments for the supervisor and maintains his/her calendar; arranges meetings; receives visitors, places and screens telephone calls and responds to routine requests for information; maintains a follow-up system on responses due, reminds the supervisor orally and in writing of the observance of deadlines; keeps the supervisor informed of any foreseen difficulties. g) Maintains and updates files of reports, correspondence and other relevant material; keeps record of reports received; classifies and codes materials being filed. h) Performs interpretations and translations from and to Uzbek, Russian and English as directed by the Senior Project Officer and PMD National Project Officer. i) Performs other duties as assigned.

Necessary Qualifications |

• Secondary education supplemented by formal training in administration, accounting, project management; • Minimum 3 years working experience in project management or programme implementation preferably in an international environment with some experience in reporting, procurement/contract management, interpretation and translation. • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft packages; • Work experience within the ORACLE-based system will be an asset. • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Russian languages in addition to Uzbek language. |

Appointment is normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. At the discretion of the appointing authority a higher step may be approved up to a maximum of step 3 subject to specific conditions. Employment period: 5 months with possible extension up to the end of the project, that is going to be implemented during 2017-2019 |
