Background    
     
   

The Communication and Media Relations Section (COMMS) is part of the Office of the Secretary General, and promotes awareness and understanding of the OSCE’s work among outside audiences by working with the media, by developing an effective communications strategy, using all available tools and innovative new channels to increase visibility and engagement, and get the Organization’s messages across to key stakeholders as well as the general public.

 

This vacancy is for two internship positions, one with an immediate start date and the second to start in September/October 2018. Please mention your availability dates in the cover letter.

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

The Section is looking for internship candidates with multimedia and online communications skills to work alongside team members to develop multimedia products, including, but not limited to long- and short-form videos, interviews, photos, graphics and infographics, for posting on the OSCE website and social media platforms.

 

Candidates need to show an understanding of multimedia production and creation and online communication and to demonstrate enthusiasm and initiative in its use.

Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Applicants should be under the age of 30 (on the date of the deadline of this vacancy) and from an OSCE participating State;
  • Students in the final year of higher education (university or other accredited institution) at graduate or postgraduate level, i.e. within one year of graduation, or recent graduates or postgraduates, with a background in film and/or TV production, photography, graphic design or a related field with advanced multimedia skills;
  • Experience and ability to work with photo, video and audio editing software;
  • Ability to produce and create podcasts, video, graphics and other relevant material for use both online and for TV broadcasting;
  • Demonstrable skills in photography, videography, graphic design;
  • Professional fluency in English with ability to write in a fluent, journalistic style;
  • Ability to initiate ideas and to bring them to fruition as part of a team effort;
  • Ability to work in a team and establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds;
  • An understanding of the use of new technology for communications campaigns, including how to work with multiple audiences, and create and maintain networks of interest is an asset;
  • Previous work experience in press, public information, communications or media campaigns - preferably in an international or regional environment is an asset;
  • Working knowledge of other OSCE official language(s) is an asset.

Remuneration Package    
     
   

Please note that the OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration nor reimburse travel expenses. However, selected interns who are non-residents of Vienna may be eligible for some compensation towards their living costs in Vienna.

 

The internship lasts three (3) six (6) months and does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.

 

The selected intern will participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense but the OSCE will cover life and disability insurance.
