This call for applications is open for persons with citizenship of the Republic of Serbia. The OSCE Mission to Serbia and the Bar Academy of Serbia will organize a series of training courses for lawyers practising criminal law, with the aim of improving their knowledge and skills necessary to effectively protect fundamental human rights before national courts and, in particular, the Constitutional Court of Serbia and the European Court of Human Rights. The training will focus on: 1 the protection of the right to a fair trial, and on the right to freedom and security of person. Therefore, the OSCE Mission to Serbia is looking for three local consultants: (1) one expert will focus on the protection of the right to a fair trial, (2) one expert will focus on the right to freedom and security of person in the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights, and (3) one expert on the right to freedom and security of person in the jurisprudence of Serbian courts and the Constitutional Court of Serbia. |

Tasks and Responsibilities | ||
Under the supervision of the OSCE Mission to Serbia’s National Legal Adviser, each of the three consultants will prepare and deliver five training sessions on one of the following topics:
For all three topics, the training should address the following issues: the scope of the specified right under the European Convention on Human Rights, taking into account the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights; the specified right in Serbian law; the specified right in court practice in Serbia; best ways to react to possible violations of the specified right in criminal proceedings and invoke the standards developed by the European Court of Human Rights; best ways to protect the specified right in procedures other than criminal, particularly before the Constitutional Court of Serbia and the European Court of Human Rights. |

Remuneration Package | ||
The consultant will be employed for a period of two months (tentatively starting at the end of April 2018) and will be remunerated a total amount of app. 750 EUR upon completion of the envisaged tasks. | ||
