Please note that the OSCE is not in a position paying any remuneration during the period of internship nor reimburse travel expenses. Some compensation towards the cost of living may be offered to interns who do not reside in the place of assignment . Background As part of its efforts to adjust and prepare programme and project planning and evaluation documents, the OSCE Project Co-ordinator in Uzbekistan (the mission) would warmly welcome one international Intern during the summer of 2017. The mission foresees that an international Intern could make a very significant contribution to the programmatic success of the mission. This position would ideally suit a post-graduate student with studies that relate to Uzbekistan. An undergraduate student might be acceptable. The period of employment is anticipated to be 60 days. The dates are negotiable, depending on the availability of the person selected. |

Tasks and Responsibilities |

|
This position gives the incumbent an excellent opportunity to see a wide cross-section of the programmatic activity of the mission and also make a contribution to improvement of the success of project work and other activities. This position may require some travel to various locations in Uzbekistan to conduct or review various programmatic activities. Under the supervision of the Head of Mission and one of the Senior Project Officers, the incumbent would closely work with the mission’s Senior Project Officer(s) and National Project Officers: • To assist in the implementation, co-ordination, and monitoring of a select segment of the programmatic activity of the mission; • Visit project sites and activities and prepare brief, concise reports for senior management, using as background project documents including monitoring and self-evaluation reports; • Assist in editing of project proposals, reports, and other programmatic documents; • Assisting in preparations for OSCE meetings and conferences including by compiling background information, helping with the preparation of working files, taking minutes and preparing reports; • Attending meetings and conferences when required, taking notes during the meetings and drafting internal reports; • Researching and compiling factual information on specific issues related to the project work of the mission, drafting research papers and reports; and • Assisting programme staff in preparing documents, in other daily activities and performing other duties as requested |

Necessary Qualifications |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
• Be at least 19 years old and have completed two years of full-time studies from an accredited institution or have completed a first or advanced degree in a field relevant to the OSCE’s mandate no longer than two years ago by the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice; • Fluency in English is essential, including the ability to draft and edit written English-language documents. Good working knowledge of Uzbek language (such as the ability to read, and carry on a basic conversation). • Strong analytical, research and drafting skills; • Good organizational skills with ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently; • Previous experience in working for international organizations/internships or in a diplomatic service. • Excellent IT knowledge, familiarity with Microsoft Office and Internet applications; • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity. |

The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover any expenses incurred by the intern during his/her stay nor reimburse travel expenses. The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange his/her own medical coverage, he/she shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station he/she applies to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations. The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE. |
