Background    
     
   

On 2 May 2020, the OSCE POiD is planning to facilitate organization of a conference dedicated to commemoration of 3 May World Press Freedom Day. The main goal of this event is to promote journalism as a profession among youth and students. The POiD plans to conduct the 2020 conference dedicated to 3 May World Press Freedom Day in TEDxTalks  format. Each speaker will have 20 minutes to present their inspiring story related to journalism activity and share it with the audience in an inspiring mood and manner.

Objective:

Therefore, the Office requires services of an international media expert who can deliver a 20-minute inspiring presentation and/or speech to promote journalism as a profession among youth and students. 

Organizational Setting:

The international media expert will work under direct supervision of the OSCE POiD Media Officer.

Inputs:

The OSCE POiD Media Unit will provide the international media expert with the necessary information and materials for the fulfilment of the task.

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Scope of Work and Expected Outputs:

The international media expert should design, develop and make an inspiring presentation and/or speech for the participants of the conference dedicated to commemoration of 3 May World Press Freedom Day, which will be conducted in Dushanbe, Tajikistan on 02 May 2020. The aim of presentation and/or speech should be promotion of journalism as a profession among students and young journalists. The topics of the presentations may vary from establishment and management of media outlets to the newsroom composition, news reporting and editing, as well as impact of new technologies on the future of media and journalism as a profession and modern trends in journalism.  The international media expert should also conduct a one-hour master class for the group of participants at the conference.

Deliverables: 

  • Soft copy of power point or prezi presentation for the participants of the conference;
  • Hand-outs for participants of the conference;
  • Soft copy of power point or prezi presentation for the participants of the master class;
  • Hand-outs for participants of the master class.

Duration of assignment: 28 April  - 02 May 2020 (five days).

     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Advanced university degree in journalism, economy, political science, technology or related fields;
  • Very good knowledge of global media trends;
  • Good knowledge of trends of Central Asia, particularly Tajik media and journalism;
  • Ability to develop attractive power point or Prezi presentations;
  • Ability to make attractive and inspiring presentations and/or speeches;
  • At least ten years of professional experience in the field of media and journalism.

Remuneration Package    
     
    The consultant will be remunerated commensurate with consultant’s experience and qualifications in accordance with OSCE established rates. Applicants should indicate whether they wish to be included in the OSCE Roster of Consultants for similar assignments.
