The OSCE Centre in Ashgabat promotes the implementation of OSCE commitments and co-operation with Turkmenistan within the OSCE framework. The Centre assists the host-country in addressing security issues, including: border management, the fight against terrorism, trafficking in human beings, arms and drugs, economic and environmental topics, human rights, good governance, and rule of law issues as well as media freedom. | ||
Tasks and Responsibilities | ||
Under the overall supervision of the Head of Centre the intern will be requested to carry out the following duties: • Assist the HoM`s team in publicizing the Centre's activities through its website, press releases and information materials including compiling background information and helping with the preparation of working files. • Perform research on specific issues related to the OSCE mandate and activities in general as well as best practices across the OSCE region that could be used in developing Centre`s programme and project activities in Turkmenistan. • Render administrative support to the HoM programme and project related activities, such as conferences, seminars, workshops and training sessions. • Draft correspondence/reports on the basis of instructions received from the HoM`s team and prepare summaries of relevant documents. • Assisting the HoM`s team in its daily activities and performing any other tasks as required. |

Necessary Qualifications | ||
• Applicants should be under the age of 30 on the deadline date of this vacancy, from an OSCE participating state and with the background in international relations, political science, security studies or a related field • Students within one year of graduation from a university or other accredited institution of higher education at the graduate or postgraduate level, as well as graduates or postgraduates within two years of completing their degree, are eligible to apply • Previous experience in working for international organizations/internships would be an asset • Professional fluency in Russian and English with excellent communication skills; knowledge of another OSCE working languages, would be an asset • Strong analytical, research and drafting skills • Good organizational skills with ability to process and analyse information quickly and efficiently • Excellent IT knowledge, familiarity with Microsoft Office and Internet applications • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity | ||
Remuneration Package | ||
The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover any expenses incurred by the intern during his/her stay nor reimburse travel expenses. In lieu of remuneration the receiving office shall contribute towards the cost of living of international interns who are non-residents at the duty station (place of assignment). Such compensation shall be equivalent to 10% of the applicable BLA rate of the respective field operation duty station. The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange his/her own medical coverage, he/she shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station he/she applies to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations. The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE. |
