The OSCE Programme Office in Bishkek (POiB) assists the Government of the Kyrgyz Republic with the implementation of OSCE commitments and relevant international obligations and standards. The Policy and Planning Unit (PPU) in the Office of Head of Mission (OHoM) oversees the development, implementation and evaluation of POiB’s three thematic programmes — i.e. Politico-Military, Economic and Environmental, and Human Dimensions of security — and projects implemented within those programmes. Whilst the daily implementation is conducted by the programmatic staff in each dimension, the OHoM, and the PPU in particular, fulfils directional and quality assurance. Additionally, the PPU is responsible for the implementation of one OHoM project on the OSCE Academy in Bishkek.
The PPU is looking for a full time intern for a three, and up to six month-period starting beginning of June 2019 (flexible). The selected intern will have an excellent opportunity to gain an overview of the activities of the OSCE in Kyrgyzstan. The selected intern will be tasked with the duties outlined below.

Tasks and Responsibilities |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Assists the PPU team in reviewing and editing project documents (concepts, proposals, amendments, and notes to the file) and reports, as well as inputs for the Unified Budget Cycle documents (Programme Outline, Unified Budget Proposal, and Programme Budget Performance Report). Note: often these documents are drafted by non-native English speakers and require considerable editing;
- Assists with the preparation and conduct of Programme Review Meetings with all three dimensions and the senior management;
- Supports specific project staff as needed with the development, monitoring and evaluation of their project activities;
- Carries out limited research and evaluation of specific projects or project activities; visits project sites for M&E purposes and prepares reports;
- Attends internal and external meetings and takes minutes as needed;
- Assists in drafting of official correspondence, such as invitations and thank-you letters;
- Performs other related duties as required.

Necessary Qualifications |
|
|
|
|
|
|
|
- Students in the final year of university education at graduate or postgraduate level: recent graduates or postgraduates, i. e. within three years of graduation with a background in international relations, international law, international economics, peace studies, human rights or political science;
- Analytical, research and drafting skills;
- Proven ability to multi-task and work in a high-pace environment;
- Demonstrated ability to process and classify information quickly and efficiently and autonomously organize own work;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with people from different national and cultural backgrounds, whilst maintaining impartiality and objectivity;
- Perfect fluency in English is essential, including the ability to draft and edit written English-language documents;
- Knowledge of Russian would be helpful, but is not necessary;
- Excellent IT knowledge, in particular of Microsoft Office and Internet applications.
Applicants should be under the age of 30 on the date of the deadline of the vacancy notice and come from an OSCE participating State.

Remuneration Package |
|

|
|
The OSCE is not in a position to pay any remuneration or cover any expenses incurred by the intern during his/her stay nor reimburse travel expenses. However, interns selected who are non-residents at duty station, may be eligible for compensation of around EUR 380 per month towards their living costs in place of assignment.
The selected intern may participate in the group health insurance scheme at his/her own expense, but the OSCE will cover life and accident/disability insurance. If the intern opts to arrange his/her own medical coverage, he/she shall provide evidence of medical coverage for the duty station he/she applies to, and for any eventual duty trip destinations.
The internship does not constitute a commitment to future employment with the OSCE.
