Background    
     
    The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (POiD) promotes the implementation of OSCE principles and commitments, as well as the co-operation of the Republic of Tajikistan within the OSCE framework in all three dimensions. It is involved in a wide range of activities, ranging from counter-terrorism and border management projects to supporting cross-border markets and free economic zones, human rights, media development, and legal reform initiatives.
     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

The Driver/Mechanic will work under the general supervision of the Materials Management Officer. This is a general support function role directly supervised by the Transport Assistant and if you are selected as the Driver/Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

  • Assisting  in performance maintenance arrangements pertaining to all the office vehicles and in creation of the requests of spare parts for the office vehicles;
  • Inspecting all office vehicles, advising on vehicle maintenance related issues and spare parts supplies;
  • Responsible for putting in order and controlling of the items in the Transport store;
  • Performing minor repairs as changing brake pads, oil and oilfilters etc. and arranging for major repairs with the authorized  workshop, as major engine overhaul, body repair etc. as directed by the Transport Assistant;
  • Driving office vehicles for the transportation of authorised personnel and delegations, delivery or collection goods etc;
  • Being at a permanent disposition in case of emergency. Assisting  in case of broken vehicle;
  • Performing other duties as required.

Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Completion of secondary education in vehicle maintenance/engineering. Specialized training vehicle repair, maintenance would be an asset;
  • Class B driver’s license is mandatory and D driver’s license is preferable;
  • Minimum of three years of relevant experience in as a vehicle mechanic and of professional driving. Experience with international organizations would be an asset;
  • Safe driving record;
  • Good knowledge of Russian and Tajik is required. Some knowledge of English is preferable;
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package    
     
    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is 530.83 EUR. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
