Background    
     
   

The OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced Ukrainian professional for the position of Building Management Assistant with its main Office in Kyiv. The OSCE is committed to achieving a better balance of women and men within the Organization.

 

Initial duration of appointment is for 12 months, subject to a subsequent OSCE Permanent Council Decision to extend the mandate of the Mission.

Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

The incumbent is under the direct supervision of National Building Management Officer and ensures maintenance of buildings, grounds, equipment and other small jobs and repairs in Mission offices, provides support to field offices on matters of buildings maintenance/construction/facilities.

 

1. Through regular tours of inspection of the buildings, identifies problems, reports to the supervisor and recommends remedial course of action  Ensuring appropriate building maintenance (water, electricity, sewage disposal, rubbish disposal) in Mission offices;

2. Follows up and monitors the maintenance schedules for all major building services such as climate control,  elevators, plumbing systems;

3. Doing small repairs  (building, furniture, electricity, plumbing systems sanitary engineering equipment) and jobs as required;

4. Providing support to field offices on matters of  buildings maintenance or construction/electrical or mechanical engineering, including power generators;

5. Providing assistance in monitoring refurbishment/renovation works, removals during relocation processes done by contractors;

6. Keeping the integrated base of generators, control over maintenance and repairs records status for Main office and field locations;

7. Providing  support through distribution of documents, equipment, setting up of meeting rooms, and installation of coffee machines, for events taking place in the Mission offices and outside;

8. Performing other duties as required. May be called to drive official vehicles.

     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   

• Ukrainian citizenship or holding permanent resident status in Ukraine;

• Completed secondary education supplemented by specific studies in engineering, construction, building maintenance, crafts, building/masonry, carpentry/woodwork, electrics;

• Minimum three years of working experience in engineering, construction, building maintenance crafts, building/masonry, carpentry/woodwork, electrics or similar trade;

• Professional fluency in English, Russian and Ukrainian languages, excellent written and oral communication skills in the mentioned languages;

• Valid driving license;

• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a multicultural, multi-ethnic environment;

• Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft Office applications;

• Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity;

• Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities;

• Cultural sensitivity and judgment;

• Flexibility and ability to work under pressure and with limited time frames.

     
Remuneration Package    
     
    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions is 838.00 Euro/month. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna health insurance scheme. Appointments are normally made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale.
