Background | ||
The Transnational Threats Department (TNTD) was created in the OSCE Secretariat by Ministerial Council Decision MC.DEC/9/11 with a view to ensuring better co-ordination, strengthened coherence of action, and more efficient use of OSCE’s resources in addressing transnational threats. It supports the Secretary General by functioning as the focal point of the Organization-wide programmatic activities that relate to countering transnational threats. TNTD further contributes to ensuring co-ordinated and coherent action across all three dimensions and among all OSCE executive structures, respecting the mandate of each. The Border Security and Management Unit (BSMU), as part of the TNTD, provides technical advice and assistance to various stakeholders on a wide range of border security and management issues in accordance with the OSCE Border Security and Management Concept (BSMC). The Associate Border Security Officer combines technical knowledge and experience with well-developed co-ordination and communications skills in formulating, promoting, and facilitating substantive advice related to national and inter-agency co-operation on border security and management issues. The design, development and implementation of border related projects and activities are key aspects in his or her collaborative efforts in enhancing border security and management among agencies and addressing emerging cross-border security threats. |

Remuneration Package | ||
Monthly remuneration is approximately EUR 4,831.22, depending on post adjustment and family status. OSCE salaries are exempt from taxation in Austria. Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund. Other allowances and benefits are similar to those offered under the United Nations Common System. Appointments are made at step 1 of the applicable OSCE salary scale. |
