Desirable:

Tasks and Responsibilities |
|
Under the supervision of the Head of the Human Dimension Department, the Legal and Electoral Reform Officer:
-
Manages the day-to-day operations of the Legal-Electoral Reform Unit, including its budget and other resources;
-
In co-ordination with other Units within the Human Dimension Department, initiates, plans, organizes and implements programs to promote fulfilment of international commitments in the areas of rule of law and structural components of a democratic society;
-
Advises on procedures in legal/legislative reform issues and policy initiatives, including working groups formed on specific reform initiatives;
-
Supports participation from Tajikistan in monitoring elections and capacity-building on elections issues;
-
Establishes and maintains contacts with national and local Tajik authorities, including Members of Parliament, universities and research institutions, lawyers' associations, political parties, domestic and international Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs);
-
Supports the Tajikistan-based programming of OSCE founded institutions and maintains close co-ordination, in particular, with the OSCE Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR);
-
Performs other related duties as required.
