Background:

The OSCE Presence in Albania (hereinafter ‘the Presence’) in cooperation with the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University of Arts in Tirana are organizing a Head of Presence Fund “Visual Arts Contest”, focusing on “Corruption” to take place in spring 2019. Students from the faculty will be encouraged to develop – with the guidance of curators from the Faculty – art works addressing this topic. Good products will be exhibited at the Fine Arts Gallery (Fakulteti i Arteve te Bukura – FAB) in Tirana during the opening exhibition and for two weeks following the opening. The two best works will each receive a prize. A catalogue will be printed featuring the compilation of student submissions. The contest aims at encouraging students to reflect and penetrate intellectually and with artistic means on the theme of “Corruption”. This activity should be considered as a part of a broader preventive effort by OSCE to tackle the phenomenon by stimulating debate about this challenge. The means of visual art can provide a contribution to the government efforts and priorities entitled “Corruption” by presenting a student’s approach to raise public awareness and inspire institutional reaction against these phenomena in Albania. The winning Art works produced through this contest can also provide effective imagery related to corruption that the Presence will be able to use in relevant future campaigns, online or otherwise. In this context the Presence will use the service of one Visual Art Curator - multimedia artist who will guide the students of the University of Arts in Tirana during the preparation of their works and ensure the finalisation and execution of the exhibition.

Tasks and responsibilities:

The curator will be responsible for:

• Maintaining communication with OSCE Presence staff on a constant basis throughout the project duration in order to ensure that the competition and the exhibition, in terms of participation, content and impact, meet the objectives of the project as interpreted by Presence staff.

Expected Output/Deliverable:

• The realization and execution of the Arts Exhibition at FAB Gallery featuring the contest submissions, according to the OSCE Presence in Albania’s requirements as agreed with the curator during the process described in the above tasks and responsibilities.

Necessary Qualifications:

• Second level university degree in Fine Arts;

• Minimum of two years of previous professional experience in mentoring, teaching and coordinating students in the field of Fine Arts;

• Experience in curating exhibitions in the field of Fine Art;
