Background    
     
   

The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe (OSCE/Office) invites professional photographers to send their applications for inclusion in the OSCE roster of photographers. The professional photographers will be selected and included in the OSCE roster of photographers, who will provide their professional services upon request.

Objective: Capture and provide high quality and high resolution images to cover the Office’s events and to depict field activities and projects for various print and digital communication products. Selected images and photo essays will be used in a variety of the Office’s communications products, including internal and external publications, leaflets, reports, and online communications.

The photographer will be required to have his/her own equipment (professional cameras, lenses, flashes and all other necessary accessories) and be available for travel immediately as needed. These requests may come at short notice according to unpredictable and evolving needs.

The photographer may also be requested, on occasions, to train and coach the Office’s staff members on improving their photography skills.

     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   
  • Produce high quality digital photos in JPEG and RAW formats, which are  suitable for large-size colour printing;
  • Provide creative input into all commissioned photoshoots. The purpose of the assignments will be discussed in advance with the representatives of the OSCE;
  • Photos should have appropriate cropping, colour adjustments and other post-processing as agreed by the service requester;
  • The photographer is responsible for pre-selecting a shortlist of the best images from each shoot. As a guideline, a minimum of 40 usable images should be submitted for each assignment;
  • Transport to/from the photographer's base location may be provided by the Office. Otherwise, the photographer is responsible for her/his own travel arrangements;
  • Prepare photographs for printing, if requested;
  • Submit all final files to the Office;
  • The photographer should observe the highest ethical standards while obtaining images and demonstrate professionalism and good manners while working on the Office's assignment;
  • Upon the request of the Office, provide training or short coaching sessions to the Office’s staff to improve their photography skills.
     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • The candidate should at least have 5 years of experience as a professional photographer, with a portfolio of his/her own taken photos of development projects in Tajikistan (photography genre - documentary, landscape, photojournalism, portraiture, sport in motion, street photography and architectural). CV and the portfolio should be provided in the application;
  • Work experience with international organizations, international NGOs or Government agencies in Tajikistan is required. At least three reference letters or evaluations from previous assignments should be provided in the application;
  • Fluency in Tajik and Russian languages. Knowledge of English will be an asset;
  • Flexibility to travel around Tajikistan on short notice.

Remuneration Package    
     
    The consultant will be remunerated commensurate with consultant’s experience and qualifications in accordance with OSCE established rates. Applicants should indicate whether they wish to be included in the OSCE Roster of Consultants for similar assignments.
