Background    
     
    The OSCE Programme Office in Dushanbe is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced candidate for the position of Senior Public Information Assistant.
     
Tasks and Responsibilities    
     
   

Under the supervision of the Senior Executive Officer the incumbent works with other Mission’s departments and units assisting in building the Mission’s visual identity, supporting the outreach of POiD mandate and activities to the general public, governmental institutions and donor and key partners. The incumbent also intermediates between the Office and external graphic designer, video/production or printing houses.

1. Interacting with Media and Partners:

  • Acts as point of contact for media and public inquiries;
  • Assists in organizing interviews and media briefings and press conferences;
  • Assists and accompanies Head of Mission and other Senior staff during their media  appearances and other key partners meetings and events;
  • Assists in organizing POiD open doors events, donor partners meetings and media breakfasts and other relevant meetings or events for POiD communications outreach.

2. Knowledge management:

  • Assists in drafting and editing  press lines, concept notes, and strategic outreach plans, brochures and any other documents in English, Tajik and Russian;
  • Assists in drafting interviews and speeches for public appearances in English, Tajik and Russian;
  • Translates articles from newspapers and other sources as requested into English;
  • Translates press releases, media advisories, statements and other communication products into local languages.

3. Coordination:

  • Assists in the identification of the technical needs and support, in the presentation of publication or other media support, and working with graphic designers, video/production houses and printing houses making sure the final product is to the highest quality and delivered on time;
  • Inputs/Monitors all aspects of departmental material management. Supporting forecasting budgets for printing and producing materials throughout the Mission;
  • Liaises with Departments to identify opportunities for production of outreach material on POiD activities;
  • Assists in identification of candidates for services required by the Sections;
  • Contributes in a systematic and proactive way to the planning of the Unit and the shaping of media strategies/plans;
  • Provides relevant information for Intranet, Internet, and social media updates.

4. Secretarial tasks:

  • Drafts correspondence in English, Tajik or Russian on own initiative or on the basis of instruction received;
  • Maintains and updates files of communication products and other relevant material;
  • Produces and update communications products matrix liaising with Departments. 

 

     
Necessary Qualifications    
     
   
  • Completed secondary education supplemented by formal studies in journalism, public relations or social sciences;
  • Minimum six years of relevant work experience, preferably in international organizations;
  • Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft applications;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Russian and Tajik;
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package    
     
    Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is 894.50 EUR. Social benefits will include participation in the medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
