The OSCE Office in Tajikistan is looking for highly qualified, motivated and experienced candidates for the position of National Border Management Officer for its Main Office in Dushanbe.

 

 

 

Tasks and Responsibilities

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Under the supervision of the Border Management Adviser, the incumbent performs the following duties:

  • Identification and design of projects and other activities aimed at strengthening border security and management in Tajikistan, including by drafting of narrative and financial proposals;
  • Monitoring and evaluation of projects and other activities aimed at strengthening border security and management in Tajikistan, including through regular visits to project sites;
  • Liaison with Tajik and international authorities on border security and management issues;
  • Interpretation and translation from and to Tajik, Russian and English as necessary;
  • Reports on developments in Tajikistan relating to border security and management, including through preparation of briefing material for internal and external use;
  • Provides advice to the Border Management Officer and Border Management Adviser on institutional and legislative issues related to border security and management in Tajikistan;
  • Performs other duties as required.

 

 

 

 

Necessary Qualifications

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

  • University degree in Law, International relations, Political Science, security-related studies or equivalent degree from a military or police academy;
  • At least 2 years’ professional experience with a national or international organization or relevant non-governmental organization in border security and management-related issues and some knowledge and       experience of security management in the international, operational and field environment;
  • Previous work experience within OSCE, UN or EU or other international organizations is an asset;
  • Understanding of the specificity and sensitiveness of border programme activities in the fields of democratization, human rights, security, and rule of law in countries in transition;
  • Experience of working with heads of department and other middle management in public service;
  • Excellent communication skills, supported by familiarity with MS Office software;
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Russian and Tajik languages;
  • Holding a valid driving license with more than two years of experience, as well as ability to drive 4x4 vehicle;
  • Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities.

Remuneration Package

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monthly remuneration, subject to social security deductions, is 1,165.83 EUR. Social benefits will include participation in the Cigna medical insurance scheme and the OSCE Provident Fund.
