General Minimum Requirements

The general minimum requirements for working with the OSCE are:


  • Excellent physical condition
  • Possession of a valid automobile driving license and ability to drive using manual transmission
  • Ability to cope with physical hardship and willingness to work extra hours and in an environment with limited infrastructure
Field of Expertise Requirements

The general minimum requirements for working in this field of expertise are:


  • Graduation from a recognized police training school
  • Negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to read and utilise maps
  • Ability to perform first aid
  • Regular, active police service experience
  • Very good oral and written English communication skills
  • Knowledge of International Police Standards and human rights
Level of Professional Competence Requirements

Furthermore, this level of responsibility requires the following:



Police administrative courses in relevant field and specialized subject area



Minimum 10 years of diversified police experience including at least 12 months operational experience in the relevant field and specialized subject area

Mission Specific Requirements

Additionally, this particular post has specific requirements:



  • Substantial experience from a national police service in investigating economic/financial crime, including asset seizure and forfeiture
  • Experience in project planning and management
  • Demonstrated analytical skills
  • Professional fluency in the English language, both oral and written, and the ability to draft reports
  • Ability to operate windows applications, including word processing and e-mail
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to work as a member of a team, with people of different cultural and religious backgrounds, different gender, and diverse political views, while maintaining impartiality and objectivity
  • Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, as well as the ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks and activities
  • Flexibility to work under pressure and with limited time frames



  • Previous working experience in an international environment
  • Knowledge of the concept of detection and investigation of corruption


Tasks and Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Head of the Law Enforcement Department and the direct supervision of the Organized Crime Programme Manager, the Economic Crime Adviser:

  1. Advises and assists the Ministry of Interior in the development and implementation of sustainable and effective strategies and practices related to economic and financial crime, as well as corruption;
  2. Provides advice to the Ministry of Interior on the best international policies and practices concerning the application of assets seizure and forfeiture;
  3. Manages specific projects related to economic/financial crime; Prepares formal proposals identifying areas of needs, evaluation of investigative methods, including application of technical equipment, crime investigation training and/or specialist assistance;
  4. Prepares project presentation material and makes presentations on project development and modern crime investigation strategies;
  5. Conducts analysis of information, assessment of risk, creation of critical paths and advice on the definition of achievable outcomes and goals in the field of economic/financial crime;
  6. Liaises closely with other Mission departments and international organizations, including police liaison officers, on economic/financial crime issues to ensure common approach and compatibility of objectives and projects;
  7. Performs other duties as required.
